AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina Extra Benefits for Members
A variety of extra benefits and programs are available to AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina (ACNC) members in addition to their regular Medicaid benefits. Certain terms and conditions may apply.
* Monetary benefits and rewards are delivered to members via the CARE Card. Members will receive a CARE Card in the mail after they earn their first reward. Qualified members can use the CARE Card to shop at selected stores and online. You can find information about how and where to use your CARE Card on the CARE Card Rewards page.
Breast pumps and supplies
ACNC offers electric non-medical breast pumps for expecting or new moms who are between 28 weeks gestation and 12 months postpartum. The benefit also includes 270 milk storage bags. This benefit is limited to one pump per member per lifetime. Aeroflow has dedicated specialists to work with you, handle all questions, check eligibility and get the necessary prescription on your behalf.
Baby diapers and wipes*
ACNC will give members who are new moms $50 a month to purchase diapers and wipes for the first 12 months of baby’s life.
Bright Start® program
ACNC wants to support you in having the healthiest pregnancy possible. We can help you choose a provider that is right for you, help you arrange prenatal and postpartum visits, assign a maternity Care Manager to help support you throughout your pregnancy, and provide you with information and resources to help you and your baby get off to a healthy start. Baby showers
We host celebrations for expecting and new moms at our Wellness & Opportunity Centers and at community locations. ACNC Baby Showers promote prenatal and postpartum health to help reduce disparities and better serve communities of need in North Carolina. Cribs and sheets*
ACNC will give members who are new moms $50 to purchase a crib or sheets for baby within the first year of baby’s life.
Doula service
ACNC offers licensed doula services to expecting members, at no cost, available in select areas. Contact Bright Start at 1-833-475-2262 (TTY 1-866-209-6421) for more information.
Home-delivered meals
Pregnant women and new moms may be eligible for up to 14 days of meals for themselves and up to 5 family members. To receive this benefit, women must be referred by their primary care provider or care manager. Call Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY: 1-866-209-6421) for more information.
Infant car seats
ACNC offers infant car seats at no cost to expecting moms. Your provider will need to request a car seat for you by using our Let Us Know: Member Intervention Request form (PDF), located on our website under Provider Manuals, Policies and Forms. The fillable form must be completed by the provider and faxed to the Rapid Response and Outreach Team at 1-833-816-2262. Once the form has been received, the car seat will be mailed to the member’s address indicated on the form.
Infant formula*
Members who are new moms will receive $100 per month to purchase infant formula for the first 6 months of baby’s life.
Asthma navigation and supplies
ACNC members aged 18 or younger who have an asthma diagnosis may receive in-home visit services and supplies. Parents/guardians of members with an asthma diagnosis may call Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421) with a request for asthma support and will be given the option to choose up to $300 in supplies. Trained asthma navigators can work with you and your child to teach you how to help control asthma, avoid triggers and provide supplies to control allergies.
School Supplies*
ACNC provides $50 each year for each member ages 5–18 for school supplies.
WeightWatchers® (WW) voucher
You may qualify for a six-month WeightWatchers® (WW) membership at no cost. The program provides members in-person or online classes and coaching. Call ACNC Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421) to enroll.
CARE Card
You can earn up to $75 in rewards for healthy activities, like health screenings and regular checkups for you and your child.
You cannot use your rewards to purchase alcohol, tobacco or firearms. Rewards expire in 12 months or upon member disenrollment. Rewards earned in a fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) cannot exceed $75. Read more about CARE Card rewards.
Fitness club membership
Members 18 and over may be eligible for a fitness club membership. Look for more details soon about this program that will begin on January 1, 2026.
Wellness & Opportunity Center programs
ACNC offers, at no cost, cooking, fitness and life skills classes with a wide range of programming at 5 Wellness and Opportunity Centers across the state and through ACNC’s Mobile Wellness and Opportunity Center. Find out more about Wellness Center programs.
Home meals
Qualifying adult members with a diagnosis of diabetes or heart disease and who were recently discharged from the hospital may receive home delivered meals at no cost. Call Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421) for more information.
Smoking cessation services
AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina can connect you to a program to help you stop smoking. The Quit for Life® program helps members quit all forms of tobacco with access to medicines, a Quit Coach, and a secure mobile app. Learn more about Quit for Life® or contact ACNC Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421).
Opioid misuse prevention
Opioids are powerful prescription medicines that can be the right choice for treating severe pain. However, opioids may also have serious side effects, such as addiction and overdose. You can receive support for safe and appropriate opioid use through our Opioid Misuse Prevention program. Contact ACNC Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421).
Adult vision
ACNC offers adults ages 21 through 64 an additional pair of glasses and one extra eye exam every two years. With the Medicaid benefit, ACNC members can receive a total of two pairs of glasses and two eye exams every two years. ACNC requires a full year (365 days) before the second pair of glasses can be dispensed by the provider. Contact ACNC Member Services at 1-855-375-8811 (TTY 1-866-209-6421).
Transportation

Mission GED
Mission GED is a special program that can help you reach your goal of achieving your high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. ACNC can provide qualifying members with testing vouchers so you can take practice and regular tests for an HSE diploma at no cost to you. We also can connect qualified applicants to resources that can help you get ready to take the test. Learn more about the Mission GED program.
